American Society of Hirudotherapy

Professional Membership

An education- and infrastructure-focused membership for clinicians, researchers, and students who work with the hirudotherapy evidence base.

Educational membershipInfrastructure & reference

Education, not treatment

The American Society of Hirudotherapy is a nonprofit medical-education society. Professional Membership provides access to educational materials and reference infrastructure. It does not provide medical advice, does not authorize any clinical activity, and makes no claim that leech therapy cures, treats, or prevents any disease. Clinical decisions remain the sole responsibility of an appropriately licensed clinician acting within their jurisdiction.

Who it's for

Professional Membership is designed for people who engage with the hirudotherapy literature in a professional capacity:

Clinicians

Licensed practitioners and allied health professionals who want a maintained, evidence-graded reference to the published literature.

Researchers

Investigators who need quick access to the RCT registry, source publications, and the regulatory record.

Students

Students and trainees building foundational knowledge of the biology, mechanisms, and evidence base.

What membership includes

Every membership tier is built around concrete, recurring deliverables. All items are educational and reference materials.

Curated evidence-library access

A continuously maintained reference library of peer-reviewed publications, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses on hirudotherapy and related anticoagulant biology, organized by topic and graded for evidence quality.

/research

RCT registry

A structured registry of randomized controlled trials with study design, population, endpoints, and reported limitations recorded for each entry, so members can locate the primary literature behind a given topic.

/rcts

Protocol-retrieval reference

A searchable reference of published protocols and procedural documentation drawn from the literature and regulatory filings, provided as educational reference material — not as instructions to treat a patient.

/practice/clinical-protocols

CME-style educational materials

Self-study educational modules structured in a CME-style format covering biology, mechanisms, safety, and the regulatory landscape. These are educational materials only and do not, by themselves, confer accredited CME credit or any clinical credential.

/practice/cme-pathway

Quarterly evidence digests

A quarterly summary of newly indexed studies, notable revisions to existing reviews, and changes in the regulatory record, written for a professional readership.

Member newsletter

A periodic newsletter covering society activity, new library additions, and upcoming educational releases.

Early access to new reviews

Members receive early access to newly published evidence reviews and digest entries ahead of their general release.
